JUNIOR YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The Junior Youth Orchestra (JYO) is the preparatory orchestra for membership in the Youth Orchestra.  JYO provides many students with their first experience in a full orchestra setting.  They perform three formal concerts annually, as well as many specialty concerts throughout the year.  Past performances have included a collaborative concert with composer Michael Mauldin and a concerto concert featuring selected members of the orchestra.  In the past, JYO has traveled to San Antonio, Houston, Tyler, and Oklahoma City.  Students auditioning for JYO are generally performing solos at the UIL levels 1 and 2.  For strings, this corresponds to Suzuki Book 5 or 6 for violins and Book 4 or 5 for lower strings.

 

The Junior Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Mr. Andres Franco.
